The Associacao Bamboo would like to say a special thank you to Anne Monroe who kindly raised €1500 for the Sanctuary. Anne raised the money for us from running in the Lisbon Marathon.

Thanks to the awsome success of the K9 Charity walk and the kind donation from Anne Monroe, the 1st of many projects has started. We have just begun to lay the foundations for  some new sleeping quarters for the rescued dogs. Then some new fencing will be erected around the new quarters with gates in, giving us a smaller enclosure within the main enclosure. The aim of this is to have some space where we can put dogs that are either pregnant, sick or just need to be kept away from the other dogs. If the space is not needed the new gates will allow us to open up the whole area, giving more space to the dogs in the main enclosure.

On March the 16th, The Associacao Bamboo held its first 10km Charity walk. Starting in Figueira, the 10km walk looped its way around breathtaking coastal trails and picturesque countryside paths.

With around 50 participants and a large number of pets, the day was a HUGE SUCCESS.

The walk raised 400€ in cash on the day, with a further 1000€ in outstanding sponsorships and donations to still be collected.

We would once again just like to say a huge thank you to Julie Statham for not only organising the walk but also in leading us around, and to all the participants who showed up and pledged their support. Also a big thank you to the 'O' Sapinho Bar for letting us use their Bar to host the event.
